Highlights of the January - March 2024 10 week Way of the Viking tour (including Lapland retreat)
So many laughs, experiences, friendships formed and fantastic results achieved.
Congratulations to all the Viking Men
On February 21st- 25th, a number of our Vikings will be heading back to the Scandinavian Motherland, to our Way of the Viking headquarters in Swedish Laplnd, right on the Finnish border.
We will be enjoying huskie driving, cross country skiing, northern lights gaing around the fire circle, walking on the sea at the Gulf of Bothnia, a sled championship, a sauna (of corse) and an ice lake dip!
It's going to be amazing!
This weekend sees 6 of our Viking members taking on a 3 day hike of the South Downs Way . 100 miles in total, 33-34 miles per day, around 70,000 steps per day, sleeping out under the stars with sleeping bags only....it will be an adventure to remember!
Starting from Winchester ( the base of the first full Viking invasion in 1015) and ending in Eastbourne ....this hike is going to include some physical challenges and beautiful natural scenery .
3 of our Viking tribe have committed to doing the full crossing of the English Channel in a sea kayak landing on the shores of France!
Depending on weather this will be happening on either 6th, 7th, 8th 11th or 12th September 2023
The Fan dance is our main group challenge in Januray '24. But not ALL of the Vikings can make that date and so we are also doing a Fan Dance preparation hike in our locality of the South Downs. A 15 mile trek, with the majority of the Vikings carrying around 45lbs in a bergen in some likely to be winter conditions ..it is not for the faint hearted.
A fitting prequel to te main event on 21st January '24
Date 3rd December 2023
The Fan dance is a favourite of the SAS selection process. A 15 mile trek carrying around 45lbs in a bergen in some of the most inhospitable winter terrain with 1200m ascents..it is not for the faint hearted.
A physical and even more so mental challenge to complete
Date 21st Januray 2024
Date TBC'd
A day of paddling up the River Arun, attempting to paddle all accessible points. Using kayaks, or paddle boards our Viking warriors will have a day of fun and hopefully not too much swimming
